Welcome to Chalkney House

Chalkney House is a 33-bed residential home that has been converted from a Victorian county house with a purpose built extension added in 1990 and a further extension in 2005. It is set in two acres of land situated in the north-Essex village of White Colne. At the rear of the home is an enclosed garden, laid to lawn, flower beds and patio areas. Nearby are the towns of Halstead and Colchester. A regular bus service between them stops at the entrance to the home.

Philosophy of care

The principles which underpin the work of Chalkney House are no different from those existing in any community;

a respect for the individual and the freedom to pursue personal interests constrained only by the needs of living with others.

In practice these principles mean a concern not only for the physical well-being of residents, but for their emotional and psychological well-being also. Concern for the residents emotional well-being a respect for their personal dignity, self-esteem and as great a degree of personal responsibility as is possible.
